CLIMATE RESILIENCY CHALLENGE

How might we empower frontline communities to prevent, prepare for and recover from the most urgent climate-related disasters; such as, wildfires, floods and extreme weather?

hubspot update-1

The Climate Resiliency Challenge concluded on August 1, 2023, with 13 winners across three categories – Emerging, Mid-Stage, and Advanced Solutions – and awarded a total of $1 million in prize money.

The Challenge sought solutions to help frontline communities prevent, prepare for and recover from climate-related disasters, such as wildfires, floods, and extreme weather. Our focus was on empowering frontline communities - neighborhoods or populations of people that feel the most immediate and worst impacts from climate change, who are physically exposed to climate risks due to the locations of their homes and businesses, and–importantly–who have fewer resources, capacity or political power to respond to those risks.

Through the open call for submissions, inventors, entrepreneurs, and scholars were able to propose bold, innovative solutions to build climate resiliency. A total of 418 submissions were received and evaluated by over 50 judges.
